Mortarion was an odd child; instead of playing with the other children all day, he would sleep until dusk and try to summon the Daedra most nights. Eventually, on his twenty-first birthday, he summoned Peryite who gave him a walking stick. After about ten years had passed, Peryite came again and told him of the walking stick's significance. It was the handle of a poison-coated scythe that was the companion to Spellbreaker. The scythe gave him the attribute he wanted from a person he killed while giving the rest of the person's soul to Peryite. He wears a set of Akaviri golden armor that is blessed by Akatosh and is as hard as ebony. This was given to him after decades of repentance and travel to wayshrines throught Tamriel. This is how he knows Talos is a God because he recieved a vision as to where the armor was after visiting a wayshrine of Talos after visiting a wayshrine of Akatosh.
While he was still in the service of Peryite he and Percian fought, ending in him losing. This is one event that made him rethink his service to the Deadric Lords and take a pilgramage of forgiveness throught Cyrodill.
